Well, I'm not sure where to start, but here I go. It's Monday and I'm still trying to get back to normal while I'm home the next 4 days. Last week was a busy week. We started off flying from Nashville to Madison, WI where we had a 3 1/2 hour layover in Minneapolis and we almost missed it cause we’re idiots!! When we finally got to Madison there were protesters everywhere at the capitol, some of them were even sleeping out on the capitol lawn at night and it was freezing. While we were walking back to our hotel Matt and Nick got in on the action and picked up some signs and got in the mix. The night for us went great, we got to play for WWQM at this old theater that Roy Rogers once played, so it was really cool. Thankfully all we had to do on Sunday was fly to Rochester, NY via Detroit. Sounds easy, huh? Well, it wasn't so we ended up staying the night in Detroit. Problem was now that everybody had a flight to Rochester but Matt, so he had to fly to Buffalo and then drive to Rochester (sucks.) So, wow, we all finally got to Rochester and played for some folks at WBEE and then we went back to Buffalo and played at a listener lunch at WYRK and had some buffalo wings from the place that created the original buffalo wing!!! They were freaking awesome!!! As we were enjoying our wings and Labatt Blue’s on draft we got a call that everybody but Jeff and Nick had flights back to Detroit. Sweet!!!! So now the fun was over and we packed up to head back to the airport. The whole ride back we were making fun of Jeff and Nick that they were gonna have to drive the 5 hours back to Detroit while we were chilling at the hotel. Well, it turns out they got the last laugh. They ended up getting a straight flight back to Detroit and we ended up getting there 3 hours after them (Bull Sh--!.) So we got to spend the next day in Detroit where we played at Toby Keith’s Bar and Grill. That was my first time at Toby's. They had a killer green room with a full bar. Problem was the waitress stopped coming in and taking our drink orders so we decided just to be our own bartender. Free pour!!! Toby, let me give you some advice... don't put a full bar in the green room!!! Anyways off to the next town which was Pittsburgh. We played a couple stations there, WDSY and WOGI, then we hopped back on a plane to Chicago. In Chicago we got to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel which was really cool and had dinner at this amazing place but I forgot the name (sorry, it was a long week.) That evening our regional wanted me to try scotch, he said I would love it. Turns out I hate it. I'm more of a beer guy. My Okie roots, baby!!!! So we got up and played for US 99 in Chicago the next day. Nick was so sick we didn't think he was gonna be able to play, but he sucked it up and killed it with a trash can right next to him the whole time. After we played Nick went back to the hotel to sleep and we went off to have some Chicago deep dish!! Man that stuff is freaking great. I swear I gained 5 pounds at lunch but it was worth it. After lunch we packed up to head to the Neon Armadillo in Fort Wayne, IN for a show with WQHK. Well, we thought we packed everything but we didn't so Nicks day got worse cause we forgot his bags. Oops!! That night was St. Patrick's so the roof got blown off the club. The night ended with a bagpipe band on stage with us (sorry for the bad cell phone video)!!! Fun Night. We had a couple more stops to make in Ohio at WGAR and WQMX before we headed to The Dusty Armadillo!!! The club was a kick ass old honky honk where they line-danced to every song. The last song of the night we played "Something Better" and it was really cool to have people singing the song back to us!! It was a perfect ending to a long week of traveling. I leave you with some advice. Don't fly Delta!!!!!!!!
Talk to Y'all Soon,
Ryan
PS: Stay tuned because we’re heading to Vegas for the ACM's so there should be some good stories!!!
