What a run. Besides the minor set backs like a RV tire blow out, trailer tire blow out, exhaust pipe breaking off and filling the RV with exhaust, the generator quitting on us, and my personal favorite: a scratched eye, the shows were amazing. We always try to keep morale up on the road. It’s really easy to get grumpy after about four days in the RV, so you can imagine how tense everyone is after eight. Last night we found the perfect way to get everyone to laugh. It was Steve Daly's 27th birthday, so we started out by having about 1,000 people sing happy b-day to him.

What's up everyone? Well, I'm laying in my hotel room at the Hyatt in Wichita this morning. Yes, I said the Hyatt. Sometimes we get lucky and get a nice room that doesn't have wheels under it!! Anyways, back to my blog. Well, here's the deal. We are on the road so much we get a little bored riding around so we come up with ways to have a laugh and make the time pass by a little faster. With that being said, we have come up with the best game since Monopoly! We’re calling it Kovert Karaoke!!!
Here's how it works.
STEP 1: You get your iPod and pick out a song.

Hey there everybody,
The last two weeks for me have been pretty tough! Why? Well, I've been on a DIET that’s why!!! I've gained 15 pounds since January. You know how they say when you go to college you get the "freshman 15," well, in the music business when you go on your radio tour you get the "new artist 15!" This is why.....
All you do is travel around the country and hit up one to two country radio stations a day and play some acoustic songs for them. After that, you go out to eat every night with whoever is in charge of that certain station you visited that day and stuff your face.

In 1999, I didn’t know what I was doing with my life. I was drinking a lot. I had dropped out of college. I felt like every decision I made was wrong. I had been out of school a while and it seemed that most of my friends were finding their path. By then I had been playing guitar for about 3 years but by no means was an intermediate. I had written a few songs, but they were really bad.
Ryan and I went to CD Warehouse on 74th and Penn and bought a CD one day that changed the way I felt. It was Charlie Robison’s, Life of the Party. I liked what he was writing, and the way he was singing it.

I absolutely love music. All kinds. I love a great melody or groove or third verse. Rock, pop, jazz, country, whatever. We all get asked a lot who our influences are and even though the five of us come from such different musical backgrounds we found a common ground in this band. But occasionally on the RV one of us will DJ from an iPod and it’s amazing to go through albums and songs where a couple guys know every word and drum fill and guitar lick while someone else will be hearing the song for the first time.

Self-reliant country band The Dirt Drifters have put their feet down with their boldly titled debut, This Is My Blood.
After years of grinding tours in RV campers, the band offers an album of road tested tunes, 10 of 11 written by the band themselves, recorded without the help of session aces and showing a rare flash of artistic independence from Nashville’s Music Row.
