Roughstock released their take on 10 new artists worth spending your time to listen to and you guessed it, The Dirt Drifters were one of them!

Always A Reason” – The Dirt Drifters: This road-tested band just released This Is My Blood in mid July and this tune is their new single. While you could pick any track on the record to be placed here, there’s definitely a Springsteen-like quality to their melody with lyrics that are stone country.

It's been a great week here in Nashville.  We spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday with the Nashville based media.   Tons of fun. This town is just covered with artists and creative people.  Today is a nice relaxing day off before we head out to the golden coast. I absolutely love California, but hate the flight.  I'm clearly in the wrong business to have to travel as much as I do and be petrified to fly.  Either way I'm ready to say bye to this 100 degree weather.  Bring that 75 with a nice cool breeze on.  Pretty excited to be back in San Jose tomorrow night.

We just got back in town from the road last night. Lately, its been a rough go because we are pretty much doing our summer tour without AC.  Never mind that, cause something great has happened as of late. WE GOT MUSIC OUT! And people are buying it!

The past few shows people are singing along with songs that they haven’t before. They know a tune when we play the intro licks… it's amazing… we have been wanting this for a long time!

Our biggest song and only song so far has been a #41 on the charts with “Something Better”, which in the grand scheme of things is jack squat.

What's up everybody, Nick here. I'm writing this blog as we are headed to Iowa for some shows this weekend and it is burning up outside and inside our RV!!!! The RV doesn't really have that great of an AC unit. Actually to be honest, it sucks! If anyone reading this has a lot of money and wants to help us out , we could really use a bus about now!  Anyway, having no AC aside, I'm just excited to be out playing shows. It's what this band is all about. We are living the dream as they say!

This week I had a few "firsts".  I just had my first demo session as a writer for Warner Chapel and

The day that the rest of the world can listen to the picture that has been painted. I can't really explain how good it feels to FINALLY get music out. I started writing songs when I was 17, professionally when I was 23, and I'm sure there are more than a thousand tunes I've been a part of, so when it all comes down to a release day and a packaged product of 11 songs, it feels unbelievable and a bit nervous to know that today it is happening. I am very proud of the music we have made together, and even more proud of the way we made it.

I don't want to try and sell you on this record or tell

We left Nashville almost two weeks ago and have been slowly making our way back from California.  It’s is the first time the full band and the RV have been out this far west and it’s cool to have the opportunity to put on our full show out in Idaho, California, Oregon and Montana.  We have one more show in Iowa and then we head back to Nashville for a couple days.  The scenery in this part of the country is absolutely amazing and it was my first time ever to see the great state of Montana.

Yesterday we were in Lewiston Idaho, it’s absolutely beautiful there. We played Sunday night at the Clearwater River Casino and had a great time. There is a beautiful river there swarming with salmon, low lying hills that could be a multitude of paintings. It reminds me of some of the scenes in “Dances With Wolves.” There is much of our country’s history in those hills and rivers.  When we go through there again I would like to spend some time fishing and seeing the country. Without this land and its people the American west wouldn’t be what it is today.

The people here are an amazing

Well, it's 6:30am in Las Vegas Thursday morning and I should be sleeping but I can't cause my body is still on Nashville time. Oh well!

Anyways, for us the last 4 days have been great. We flew out to Riverside California Sunday as a band which was an event in itself. It was the whole crew, not just the band, all 8 of us. Levi and Steve were making their first trip to the golden state. Funny thing is Steve hates flying, so we just loaded him up with bunch of drink tickets and he did fine. Jeremy, Nick and Snake loaded up as well, they were so freaking loud it was funny!!

Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything…there are many reasons other than the obvious laziness…so this is the beginning of my new WEEKLY BLOGS.

Four months ago, I hit a pretty rough patch of road. My finances have been a complete reminder of my current situation, which is why it's tough to get out of that same mental headspace of … “IM SCREWED."  Other than my finances, there are many things riding on the “success” of this band. I’m not going to name them, but lets just say it's EVERYTHING for a large group of people.

  • For The Dirt Drifters, there is always a reason to celebrate and that is exactly what this unmistakable group of five musicians will be doing today, as their new single “Always A Reason” hits country radio. This song is now available on iTunes and will be featured on their upcoming debut album entitled This Is My Blood.

Co-written by band members Ryan Fleener and Jeff Middleton with Justin Wilson, "Always A Reason," is an addictive tune that highlights the group’s gritty, raw sound and working man inspired lyrics. The song is the follow-up to their hit debut single “Something Better.”
